It seems like every time I post here, I've had a hectic month and it's true. The past few weeks have been insanely crazy and busy and I don't even have work yet.
I've had such splendid time hanging out with friends whether it's a simple hangout at coffee shops that lasts til the break of morning, sleepovers at a friend's house or exploring a far province.
I know I'm just delaying the job hunting process but that one seems to have some sort of progress, but I don't want to jinx it.
As much as I am enjoying my time with my new friends, I'm also saddened with the fact that it seems like I might have cut some ties with old friends. It's not official but it seems like there's no opportunity for us to move forward like we did before. It's a sad thought but I'll always remember the great memories I've had. Now's the time to keep myself together for what's coming ahead. I still have some activities coming up in the next few weeks starting with another out of town trip next week.

6/4/17
The past month has been so wild! I've been spending so much time with new friends from a travel community. Not all activities are spent on traveling. From the casual dinners, hang outs or using a restaurant's free wifi to play an online game, it's always a fun time spent with them. It did get me a bit distracted from job hunting but I hope to get back on track in it soon.
As mentioned in my previous post, I went to La Union last April and I also joined them in another trip to Liwliwa, Zambales just a week ago. I've also signed up to join some of them in a trip to Samar in September and might go with them to another province this July.
I hope to dedicate a post regarding my recent trips soon!

Time flies so fast! It's already April! Job hunting is still going steady, but getting slow. It's been so exhausting going through so many interviews yet I can't seem to get through the next step.
I managed to get through a final interview with a publication company that I applied for. It's a writing job that I actually liked but there are so many non-pleasing factors that come into play. I expect the heavy workload in the industry and times that I have to work on weekends, but they told me that they won't be able to pay the rate that is implemented by the government for weekend work. They're already telling me that they are illegal. Instead, they'll pay me with a regular rate and I can offset my work days to compensate weekend work. That seems fine with me since I'm used to having irregular working days.
However, what really made me think twice is the salary that they are offering. It's lower than the basic salary I was receiving from my previous company and I don't think it can sustain my needs. I was already struggling to budget my previous salary and it will be harder for me to work with a lower amount. This job will have me work for long hours and be a challenge for me as I would have to talk with clients and attend events. It's only fair that I would be compensated enough.
Though we didn't end up having a contract to sign by the end of the session, I doubt that I'll be offered the job. I don't even think I will accept it if ever.
I did apply to another company which is arguably a bigger and well-known company here in the country and in the continent as well. I'm hoping to get accepted. Though accdg. to my latest update, the company is not in a hurry to hire the position I applied for. Still crossing my fingers that I get the job somehow!
I signed up for a much-needed trip this month to La Union. I've been planning to go there since last year and I figured out that I should take advantage of this free time to visit the place. I'm lucky that I found a certain gathering for photography enthusiasts who will meet up to explore the area. I am not just looking forward to enjoying the area, but also to meeting new people!

Disney showed its mastery in storytelling once again with the live adaptation of its classic fairytale, Beauty and the Beast.
Starring Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast, the movie showcases the romance that forms between two individuals who are at polar opposites. A prince who lives in a castle lacks compassion is cursed by a sorceress after refusing to offer her shelter from the unrelenting weather in return for a rose. As punishment, the prince is transformed to a Beast and all household in the castle are turned into antiques and furnitures. The only way to break the spell is for the Beast to find someone who will show him true love before the last petal of a rose fell.
Belle is a local villager in a small town looking for a great adventure outside the town. She meets the Beast after her father gets captured and offers to stay in the castle in exchange of her father's freedom.
The movie doesn't deviate from the original Disney animated movie, probably to the delight of many fans. However, they did add some details in the story which adds depth to the characters. The story showed what happened to Belle's mother which we did not see before. One of the features that the fans should watch out for are the music that is featured in the movie. They stayed true to the animated film and retained the classic Disney songs such as "Beauty and the Beast" and "Belle." Music producer Alan Menken who composed the original songs wrote four new songs for the new movie which was incorporated in the film.
The film also boasts of a great casting. Emma Watson was the perfect choice to portray the leading lady as she portrayed the character very well. Her acting may have been quite awkward in some scenes and her vocals may not be strong but she was able to hold her own and do justice to one of Disney's beloved princesses. The cast also included veteran Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts and Ian McKellen as Cogsworth. Luke Evans did a good job playing the villainous Gaston with Josh Gad as his sidekick, Le Fou, whose character is revealed to be a homosexual in this adaptation. The change in his character caused some concerns in China which lead to the movie being banned. However, it shouldn't be much of an issue as that angle isn't shown heavily all throughout the film.
It was a touching and romantic movie that will surely touch the viewers' hearts regardless if you have seen the original animated film or not.
With this movie as well as the previous releases of live adaptations of Cinderella and The Jungle Book, Disney is reportedly planning to make more live adaptations of their classic movies. I certainly can't wait to see what direction they will go for.

As a kid, I've always loved the Power Rangers. I remember watching the series on TV after eating dinner every night on the local channel. It's the story of five teenagers who battle different villains out to destroy the world and cause chaos.
I remember when the first movie came out in 1995, I was too young to watch the movie based on the PG-13 rating so my parents had to make me lie just so I could enter the movie theaters.
It's now 2017 and a new movie was recently released introducing these classic characters to the audience once more. The production of this movie was announced beforehand and it had a nostalgic hit on me which made me anticipate for the movie to come out. As updates and developments about casting and storylines came out, I got more excited.
I made sure to watch it on the first week of its release as I didn't want anyone to spoil it for me. Prior to watching the movie, I tried to avoid reading reviews, but I did hear that it received generally mixed reviews.
The movie opens right away with some brief background of the original Power Rangers and its villain, the famous Rita Repulsa, who is known to be their number one enemy even in the original series. Played by Elizabeth Banks, I could already tell that Rita was going to be a real sinister this time around.
We're introduced to the main cast who will make up the Power Rangers. Jason, the Red Ranger who will become the leader of the Rangers, is portrayed as a typical careless jock who gets in trouble with the police right away. Kimberly, the Pink Ranger, is a hot young lady who is shown to have conflict with her circle of friends regarding her love life and keeps a dark secret. Unlike the original series, Billy, the Blue Ranger, is a black guy, but he is also a nerd and has a knack for discovering new things and being a bit OC. Meanwhile, Zack, the black Ranger, is an Asian teenager who is shown as a happy-go-lucky teenager who is also serious at home as he takes care of his sick mother. Trini, the Yellow Ranger, is a mysterious new girl in school and is a tough chick who is later revealed to be a member of the LGBT.
Upon getting involved in an incident and being chosen as the new set of Power Rangers, together, they must make a stand and fight the evil forces lead by Rita Repulsa who came back to regain power.
These changes in casting is an obvious attempt to show diversity to the modern movie audience and it works. However, some storylines and plot twists make this movie less impressive than I would hope for. Some scenes were not delivered convincingly, probably due to lack of acting experience for the majority of the cast. I appreciate the attempt to give each Ranger a backstory even if some of them were not believable and some of the storylines weren't followed through. For one, Jason was supposed to be under house arrest for an early mischief he caused. Billy was able to tweak his device which alarms if Jason isn't at home at a certain time and allowed Jason to be away from his house without notifying authorities. It's believable at first but not that much if he could do it everyday without anyone from home being able to notice that he is away. Kimberly's secret reveal wasn't as dark as they portrayed it to be.
Fans will certainly love the nostalgia factor upon seeing the zords which were incorporated in the movie as well as the original theme song which was also used, albeit being in low audio quality.
There were also some changes made to the character of Goldar, originally Rita Repulsa's sidekick in the original series, which may surprise the fans. It is also great to see some of the old characters such as Zordon and Alpha.
Despite some plot holes, the fighting scenes and character development is certainly something to watch out for in this movie. If you stick around for the mid-credit scenes, you'll witness a scene that might excite you for another Power Rangers movie!

I've been attending several interviews for the past few weeks and haven't received any offers yet. I' been frustrating, but I am really hopeful that something good will come out soon. I'm just glad that some companies are contacting me than ignoring my applications like before.
It's getting hard to pretend that everything is okay because it isn't. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually miss having responsibilities outside of home. I don't miss the heavy workload, but I do miss being involved in something to keep me busy. While I don't consider myself as a workaholic, I consider myself as an active person if I had the opportunity to do more.
There's a certain job that I applied for that seems to be suited for me. I was able to do an initial interview last week and I hope to hear some progress about it soon. I really do feel that I need to write more often due to the nature of my job applications.

I've been applying online for the past week. My target is to submit to at least one company per day instead of applying all at the same time. It's to avoid any chance of companies contacting me at the same time and have interviews at the same time. I can't say it's working though as I haven't gotten any response yet. I'm deeply worried at this point.
I'm now worried about what I put i my resume as I feel that it is too long/ AT the same time, I want it to be as informative so that recruiters won't miss out on details. It's also to make up for my lack of experience.
I'm trying to apply to writing jobs since it is apparently my strength, but I am worried about not having a portfolio to showcase. There's one particular company that I intend to apply to which is already asking for sample content so I might have to start one by today.
It;s also hard when some companies I'm interested in are located in far locations. If the transportation system here is good, I wouldn't mind. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
I need to step up my game and write more.
