4/10/14 - The Colourist

The Colourist's self-titled album is one of the many additions to my music library. Their music possess an innocent, clean and vibrant pop sound that is deemed fit for radio this summer season. If the album cover isn't much of a giveaway, they were able to produce 11 tracks full of life and positive vibes. It's not exactly the upbeat vibe that is similar to the songs heard in generic party songs but more on the positivity in life in general.

Their lead single, Little Games sets the tone and starts the album with its insanely catchy beat. The song showcases the female lead singer's smooth vocals. But just like in other groups composed of mixed genders, you can expect certain songs to have a wonderful collaboration in the singing parts and it is certainly not missed here especially in the song We Won't Go Home which is one of the best and my personal favorites.

They've made a quite impressive debut with this full length album and I hope they'll show more evolution in the future. Their sound is reminiscing to the likes of Of Monsters & Men, Youngblood Hawke, Echosmith and Grouplove.

Top tracks: We Won't Go Home, Little Games and Say You Need Me
