Time flies so fast! It's already April! Job hunting is still going steady, but getting slow. It's been so exhausting going through so many interviews yet I can't seem to get through the next step.
I managed to get through a final interview with a publication company that I applied for. It's a writing job that I actually liked but there are so many non-pleasing factors that come into play. I expect the heavy workload in the industry and times that I have to work on weekends, but they told me that they won't be able to pay the rate that is implemented by the government for weekend work. They're already telling me that they are illegal. Instead, they'll pay me with a regular rate and I can offset my work days to compensate weekend work. That seems fine with me since I'm used to having irregular working days.
However, what really made me think twice is the salary that they are offering. It's lower than the basic salary I was receiving from my previous company and I don't think it can sustain my needs. I was already struggling to budget my previous salary and it will be harder for me to work with a lower amount. This job will have me work for long hours and be a challenge for me as I would have to talk with clients and attend events. It's only fair that I would be compensated enough.
Though we didn't end up having a contract to sign by the end of the session, I doubt that I'll be offered the job. I don't even think I will accept it if ever.
I did apply to another company which is arguably a bigger and well-known company here in the country and in the continent as well. I'm hoping to get accepted. Though accdg. to my latest update, the company is not in a hurry to hire the position I applied for. Still crossing my fingers that I get the job somehow!
I signed up for a much-needed trip this month to La Union. I've been planning to go there since last year and I figured out that I should take advantage of this free time to visit the place. I'm lucky that I found a certain gathering for photography enthusiasts who will meet up to explore the area. I am not just looking forward to enjoying the area, but also to meeting new people!
