Tomorrow is Bazooka Rocks day! I'm excited for it! I'm not prepared for it though.Don't know what to wear or what time I'll go since it's a whole day festival. But I know I'll have a good time with all those awesome bands lined up.

Yesterday was also my last work day for this month. September is gonna be so busy plus my regularization is inching closer. Not to mention that the -ber months are coming up. I hope I survive!

I can't believe the month is almost over! I can't wait for the new month to start. But I'd rather have the new quarter to start to be quite honest. I've been so out of focus this month.

But I've been given a certain task that will hopefully prove my worth to the team.

8/26/14

Work resumes today for most people who came from the long weekend. Though I didn't really experience it, I had plenty of rest days as well. Our boss who just came from the vacation is back and I'm worried. I wasn't able to do some of the stuff she asked us to do and some errors committed by other operators have made her ponder on the decision to make some necessary changes. It wasn't specified on what it will be or if it will be executed but I don't have a good feeling about it.

8/25/14 - MTV VMAs 2014

Today was my rest day and I took the opportunity to catch the MTV VMAs this morning.

I wasn't really that excited this year since the show has just become a vehicle to promote songs and recognize what's popular instead of appreciating all kinds of music. Nonetheless, it was still something to watch.

The winners that were announced were quite predictable, although Lorde winning for a Rock category, even getting a nomination there, is quite astounding. MTV needs to refresh their meaning of rock music.

As usual, the performances were something to watch out for. Beyonce performed a medley of her songs from her self-titled fifth album as she received a Vanguard award. Taylor Swift performed her new single, Shake It Off. I am still indifferent to the song but she was pretty and seemed to have fun during the performance. Other acts like 5 Seconds of Summer, Usher, Maroon 5, and Sam Smith performed some of their latest songs. Not really too fond of the other performers like Ariana Grande, Iggy Azealea, and Rita Ora. But the whole ceremony lacked some star power despite appearances from Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Jason Derulo,and Gwen Stefani.

The show didn't seem exciting like how it used to be but I'm tired of this conversation because it will never return to its former glory so might as well just enjoy the show for what it is right now.

My dad had his 50th birthday celebration last night at our the roof deck of our aunt's condo. I decided to go for the food and see all my relatives again.

It was a simple get together with a few people but plenty of food. My two rest days have been filled with birthday celebrations and ow I feel too full to go to work.

Yesterday was a rest day well-spent.

Our company CEO has organized a dinner for the company and I signed up to join along with some of my team members. The meeting time was at 5:30 pm but I went to the office early at around 3pm to hang around and chill.

The dinner is set at Kagura, a Japanese restaurant located in Little Tokyo, a place that is composed of different Japanese restos near my former high school. I have never been to the place before so I was quite excited.

We walked our way from the office and it felt like a company outing which made it more fun.

The restaurant was very small but we were able to fit.We sat on these wooden benches and with our shoes removed. You ca get a good view of the food being prepared if you sit by the bar where the Naruto-looking chef makes the dishes. There are also plenty of baseball decorations as Japanese love baseball just as much as Filipinos love basketball.

The resto was well-known for their Okonomiyaki which was our boss' favorite food and the main reason why he chose that restaurant.

There was a lot of food served and our stomachs were very full. It was nice to bond with other members of the company. The dinner ended at 8 pm but the night did't stop there yet.

Ben, Kiko and I decided to watch Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno. We were supposed to watch it in GB3 but there were no more seats so we ended up at GB1. The movie was quite good but the ending might not be enough for hardcore fans.

It's quite great that I got to experience the day we had yesterday. A good break from all the stress from the past month and it is quite nice that we had a follow-up from last month's movie night as well.I hope this becomes a monthly or regular thing.

8/19/14

The weather was quite a surprise today. Rain suddenly poured early in the afternoon. I was quite lucky that I was already in the office by then. I swear, it has to do something with the pants that I wore as it always rains when I wear that specific pair of jeans.

To complement the gloomy weather, I was feeling sick today. I think I had a slight fever but I was able to work it out the entire shift. Not to mention that we are undermanned since one of our co-shiftee was absent. Fortunately, the workload was light today as compared to other regular days.

I remember mentioning about a special task for work for our team where we had to describe every member using a certain set of words given by Forbes that are ideally the characteristics of employees that a company should have.

The answers were revealed during our monthly meeting a few weeks ago. I was not surprised by some of the descriptions given to me but there were also a few surprises. There wasn't that many options to choose from to begin with but it's good to know that they were able to associate some of the adjectives with me. Some of them includes autonomous, modest, honest and detail-oriented. I'm not sure if all of them fits me but I do try to live up to being one. I know I can possess these qualities if I could have better self-esteem and a boost of morale.

I just don't know how to start when I've had some screwed up incidents from this month alone.

8/16/14 - Storyline

Country star Hunter Hayes released his sophomore album, Storyline, a few months ago. I don't listen to a lot of male country artists but I really like his songs from his self-titled debut album and this was one of the albums I was waiting for this year.

He debuted the lead single at the Grammy's back in January with the self-empowering song, Invisible. It has grown to be one of my favorite songs this year even if the song isn't anything special and the bullying theme has been overdone. Nothing wrong with it though as people always need this kind of song to remind them of their worth. That is probably why I like it so much.

Unexpectedly, the album is underwhelming, at least compared to the debut album. The songs doesn't strike me hard at first but as I listen to it more, I learn to appreciate it more which is the good aspect of this album, it has the potential to be a grower and I may just love it as much as the first in a few more spins.

I'll be having my monthly feedback session with our boss later. I'm so nervous. I want to say plenty of my personal thoughts but I am afraid it won't look good on my part and may just expose my weakness as an employee but at the same time, it ca help me improve if those problems are addressed.

For the 3rd straight month, I'm stuck in the shift I hate the most. I know it's not the company's fault which is more frustrating on my part. I do't want to start looking for career options again this early but it seems like it has to be that way.

Just earlier today, I almost had to report to work on my restday to fill in for my co-shiftee who was absent. Unfortunately, I read the text late since I was sleeping. I wouldn't have been able to come to work anyway unless it was for a half-day duty.

I can't say how much I hate this shift.

I watched Lucy today. It stars Scarlett Johansson as the main star in this action flick.We don't get a lot of movies with female action stars as the leading role but Scarlett has worked her way up by playing good roles especially as the Black Widow in the Marvel universe. It's interesting how this movie will fare but it has already garnered some success internationally.

Anyway, the movie was good but the thing is, the trailer was so good but the movie wasn't what I was expecting. It's still an action film but it will somehow force you to think instead of giving us great fight scenes. It's not necessarily similar to Inception or those kind of movies and this film doesn't really bring something very new but the way Scarlett delivers her role is a pleasure to see.

It has a small bit of an indie type atmosphere to it which seems like a filler in the movie.The idea was great but the execution could definitely be better.

It's our monthly meeting at work today and I am feeling anxious about it. I am already expecting to see some negative results in my performance. Though it's becoming norm for me lately, it's not really a good thing to be contented with.

I just sent my feedback forms, which are a monthly evaluation of myself and my peers and I can already imagine low scores being given to me. I will admit that I honestly think that my contribution,no matter how big they are or not, is often overlooked ad I don't know how I can overcome that with my errors in the past. It's gonna be hard but I'll try.

The month is just starting yet it feels like it's moving way too fast. But it can be both a good and bad thing as I'm looking forward to doing some stuff in the coming weeks.

I found out that there are two new people joining joining the team next week and that is a very good sign that our team is finally growing since we'll be experiencing some losses again this month.

It seems like a new typhoon has entered the country.It's been a wet week with rains pouring in every day.

I hope it won't ruin my plans for the weekend as I want to come back to Recto to do some CD shopping. It's been a while since I've been there and I hope there are new titles available since I've saved some money just for it.

The new month has just started and I can't believe that I am off to a bad start.I don't know if it's the amount of work load but I can already feel the amount of errors that are about to pour in this month.

Earlier today, I watched Marvel's latest blockbuster movie, Guardians of the Galaxy. It was another highly anticipated superhero movie that is mainly composed of different criminals turned superheroes. The cast is a star-studded line-up that includes Chris Pratt,Bradley Cooper,Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel and WWE's Batista. The film also includes Glenn Close,Lee Pace and Josh Brolin as Thanos, one of the top villains in the Marvel Universe.

The movie was good enough. It had some cool scenes and a few funny moments as well but I felt that something was lacking.One of the highlights of the movie is its soundtrack which is mainly composed of 70's/80's pop songs which is so unlikely of a superhero movie and yet it works!

A sequel is already in the works but make sure you catch this one as it has its good moments.
